For this project, I served as the Graphic Designer for Issue 13 of the AUM History Department’s academic journal. My role involved reimagining the visual identity of the publication to enhance its readability, aesthetic appeal, and overall user experience.
Key responsibilities and contributions included:
Cover Design: Crafted a compelling and visually striking cover that reflects the journal’s scholarly tone while inviting readers in. The design balances academic professionalism with creative flair.
Page Layouts: Developed cohesive and clean page setups that organize content logically and elegantly. This included attention to typography, hierarchy, and white space to support reader engagement and ease of navigation.
Innovative Typography Treatments: Introduced fresh type treatments that bring personality and clarity to the journal, elevating the presentation of articles and sections.
Student Bios & Image Design: Created a distinctive style for student biographies and integrated imagery in a way that complements the content while maintaining a consistent visual language throughout the journal.
This redesign project aimed to modernize the journal’s appearance without compromising its academic integrity, fostering a more dynamic and accessible publication that celebrates the contributions of the department’s students and faculty alike.
